Gabriela Horikawa is an artist based in Flanders, New Jersey. Having initially pursued studies in interior design, it was during living abroad in Italy that she encountered the works of Nicolas de Stael and fell in love with impasto, thick paint, and palette knives. Now her work is focused on blurring the line between abstraction and figuration, exploring personal experiences and dream like spaces.
This year Gabriela was awarded for a second time an artist residency at Eileen Kaminsky Family Foundation at Mana Contemporary Jersey City, NJ. She was also featured in JCAST22: Jersey City Times, 11 marvelous things at Mana Contemporary by Tris McCall, October 7th 2022 during the 32nd Jersey City Art and Studio Tour / ESKFF Fall Residency Group Show at Mana Contemporary.
Gabriela has been painting and exhibiting for over 12 years, her work is part of the ESKFF Family foundation art permanent collection, and also held in private collections in England, Italy, France, Philippines, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, Peru, and USA.
